From hospital based systems having served as Chairman and Board Member to Pre-hospital based EMS systems, Jim brings well over 20 years of executive level experience to your organization.

From 1988 to 2007 (19 years) Jim served as a healthcare executive as Regional Vice President for Rural Metro Corporation’s Fire and EMS (Emergency Medical Services) operations division. This included Southwest Ambulance, a wholly owned subsidiary (Arizona’s largest ambulance provider). Jim directed various departments throughout his career from operations to risk management to human resources. He successfully negotiated 5 labor contracts while sitting on both sides of the table.

While Jim oversaw operations, revenue increased from $80 to $200 million in 8 years and employee growth exploded from 400 to 2600 in the same time frame. www.ruralmetro.com and www.southwestambulance.com. Jim directly oversaw all operational functions of the services in Maricopa and Pinal Counties.


Merger and Acquisition

In 1997, Jim played an integral role as Southwest Ambulance completed the negotiation and due diligence for the merge with Rural Metro Corporation reporting directly to the President and CEO.


Labor

While in the field, Jim was the first President of IAFF (International Association of Fire Fighters) Local I-60, the labor group that represented the largest and only EMS union in the IAFF. Jim actually organized the union and negotiated the union’s first three contracts as President. Jim held this position for 5 years.


National Disasters

Jim coordinated all functions of response to Hurricane Katrina including deployment of all ambulances from Rural Metro to the actual collection of funds from FEMA.

Jim was national coordinator of deployment for all disasters within the 26 states that Rural Metro serviced. He also developed software that allowed for immediate deployment and of available resources that was housed on the corporation’s database for the United States.


Real Estate Management and Development

Jim was responsible for all new location development and senior level oversight during project development, management and construction. This included all new fire stations, and EMS (medical) facilities (262 locations in total ranging from 1000 sf to 17.1 acre 120,000 sf regional headquarter).
